Maintenance Mode
In maintenance mode, you can temporarily block user access without losing the visibility of the app. While the maintenance window is active, the app instance remains visible but cannot be started.
A maintenance window can be bound to a destination, this affects all app instances of that system. Admin access via “Acting-as” (access in the role of a user) remains possible.
1. Activate maintenance mode
- Go to Resources and then Destinations.
- Select the desired destinations.

- Open the context menu under “Execute action” and click on Enable maintenance mode.

- In the dialog window, select which groups should retain access during maintenance.
- Optional: Enable “Allow support access during maintenance” to grant administrators from a parent division access.
- In the “User notice” field, enter a maintenance message in both German and English. You can optionally specify the planned maintenance window so your users know when login will likely be possible again. If only one language is entered, the system automatically adopts the text for the other language to avoid display issues.
- Click on Start maintenance.

2. Disconnect users
Active users on the destination are not displayed automatically. Therefore, check the status directly on the server or via process management:
Windows Server: Open the Task Manager and switch to the Users tab, or use the command prompt (cmd) and enter the command query user.
Linux Server: Use the who or ps aux | grep rdp command, for example, to identify logged-in users or RDP connections.
Terminate all active sessions or restart the server to avoid conflicts during maintenance.
3. Perform maintenance
Carry out the necessary maintenance tasks. Use the “Acting-as” mode to access the app in the role of a user, even while maintenance mode is active.
- Go to the Apps tab in the admin area, then to App Instances.
- Click the Open icon to start the app.

Can’t see any app instances / Acting-as mode not working?
During maintenance, administrators from a parent division can only access the app if the option “Allow support access during maintenance” has been enabled under 1. Enable maintenance mode (step 1.5).
4. Disable maintenance mode
- Go to Resources, then Destinations again.
Destinations in maintenance mode are marked with a Wrench icon.
- Open the context menu under “Execute action” and select Disable maintenance mode.

- In the dialog box, click Stop Maintenance to end maintenance mode.

Note on visibility in the user area
The app instance is shown grayed out. When hovering the mouse over the app, the maintenance note you entered in the maintenance window will appear.

Users with a Basic license will see the maintenance notice you created in the maintenance window when logging in.
