Install updates

There are different methods of updating applications or operating systems for your users if they have not integrated an automatic update mode.

  1. Run updates on individual VM’s:

    1. To access apps assigned to other users, click the Apps tab in the menu.
    2. In the line of the app you want to set up, click on to start the app.
    3. The app opens in a new tab. You can now make all adjustments. Your user cannot open the app during this time. Close the window after your changes, so that the user can access it again.
  2. Run updates for multiple VM’s:

Attention – all files and settings of your user will be lost. Only the files stored in the Hybrid Drive will be preserved.

    1. Update Master VM
      1. Click the Apps tab in the menu.
      2. Go to your “Master VM” where your software is installed by clicking on to start the app.
      3. The app opens in a new tab and you can run the update now.
    2. Create image and delete old VM’s
      1. Click on the Resources tab in the menu and then on Images.
      2. Click on to create an image.
      3. Name your image, optionally add a description and click Next.
      4. Select your Master VM and click Save. The image will now be created.
      5. Now go to the Cloud Resources tab and create new virtual machines one by one using the image you just created. Follow the steps in this article.
      6. Then delete all obsolete VM’s in the Cloud Resources area.
Attention – all files and settings of your user will be lost. Only the files stored in the Hybrid Drive will be preserved.
    3. Link new VM’s in app configuration
      1. Go to the Apps tab and then to the App configurations tab.
      2. Click on  in the line of the app configuration where your old VM’s were stored.
Ideally you have created only one app configuration for all connection destinations of the same type in advance.
      3. Click on  in the “Connection Destinations” tile to store the new VMs.
    4. Select new VM at the user apps
      1. Go to the Apps tab.
      2. Click on in the line of the app created from your app configuration.
      3. In the “Settings” tile, click .
      4. Select the newly created VM from the drop-down menu and click Save. Users will now open the updated version.
      5. Repeat the process for all your updated virtual machines.
  3. Updates on RDS environments

If you have set up an RDS environment, you can automatically roll out the update following the standard process. Please refer to the corresponding documentation.
